1: I'll email you a questionnaire which asks you to go into detail about various aspects of your business or brand and what you want to get out of your website.
2: We consider your budget and discuss which package is best suited to you.
3: I mock up 1-5 different designs. These will be fairly rough wireframes, mostly so you can get a sense of the structural layout of the page and how different content will display. Once this step is finalised, it cannot be changed.
4: We make major decisions about colour schemes, layout images, navigation menu items, social networking buttons, fonts and text size, logo style and size.
5: At this point you may list up to five tweaks, like changing colours or fonts, making things bigger or smaller, etc. This is your only chance to tell me if you have issues. It is massively important that you take time to look at the design (and get a second opinion if necessary) and make sure you're happy with it. Finally I will ask for email confirmation that you're satisfied for me to go ahead and complete the project.
6: This is where you send me your content - the blurb and info you want your visitors to see. I provide proof-reading services at no extra cost and a grammar and spelling check will be performed before any content is finalised.
7: (Websites Only) I make and code the site and upload it to your web server. You can upload it yourself if you prefer to use your web host control panel or a FTP client like Filezilla. (If you don't have a domain name and web host already, you can start here. Most web hosting is fairly straightforwards to set up.)
8: Your site goes live / I send you the finished product.

All websites are static* and do not include a custom-designed blog** (see below for other options).

Type: Logo Design
Starting At: £75+
Info: Price depends greatly on the complexity of the design and how long the project takes. If you're after an eye-catching logo that can be used both online and in print, this is for you. High-resolution copies of the logo will be provided via email, in colour, black and white and in various sizes. See examples in my portfolio.
Type Flyer / Poster / Business Card Design
Starting At: £75+ each

If you're looking for offline promotional material I can design flyers (A5), posters (A4), or business cards. These are made at high-resolution and emailed to you in colour and black and white, ready to be printed.
* Static refers to a website that is displayed as-is and does not update like a dynamic site (e.g. a blogging platform or e-commerce site).
** Here is a list of places you can find free blogs. I am happy to include a link to a blog on your website as part of the navigation, but I do not design separate blog layouts.
# If you require more than 5 pages on your website, I'm happy to discuss additional costs via email.

Type: Image Gallery
Starting At: £50 (+ depending on how many images you want)
Info: You will need to provide any photos you wish displayed in a gallery and have full permission to use them. Please check licenses before sending me any pictures you did not take or create yourself. I will enhance/brighten/sharpen photos if necessary.
Type: Twitter Widget
Price: £25
Info: All you have to do is refresh your web page to see the Twitter widget update as you Tweet. It will appear as part of the overall layout and I will match colours / textures where possible. See an example on the sidebar of this site.
Type: Twitter Header & Avatar
Price: £25
Info: These will match the design and colour scheme of your site and can be uploaded to your Twitter account so that your brand is recognisable to everyone following your feed. Example.

I make brand new websites and completely redesign old websites from scratch and therefore cannot take on a project half-finished by anyone else, including my clients. If you have started building a site and can't complete it, or purchased a pre-made site from another venue and run into problems, may I suggest you try any of the web design help books listed on Amazon.
While I can point you to places you can get domain names and web hosting, I do not handle purchasing these for my clients. You will need to do this yourself by registering with a web host and following the steps on their site. This is a good place to start.
Full promotion of your website or business. I will include basic SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) as I build your site and I offer additional packages if you're looking for flyers, business cards and logos, but that's as far as my hand in your marketing goes. You will need to contact necessary publications and distribute your promotional material to the relevant venues.
About J. Oliver: I'm a freelance web designer and speculative fiction writer based in Dorset, UK. I started making personal site and blog layouts in 2005 as a hobby, but over the years I became more involved in the process and took courses in CSS and HTML. Eventually I decided it was time to reach out to other people who are looking to put their personal stamp on the web, and in early 2010 J. Oliver Designs was born.
